Program Description
There is a consensus among oncology care providers on the need for new technologies with the ability to detect cancer early so that treatments can be initiated at an earlier stage, which can potentially increase patients’ survival. Detecting cancer early, when it is at its most treatable stage, is the focus of a new international research collaboration. New blood-based technologies, known as multi-cancer early detection (MCED) tests, are entering the market and can identify multiple cancers early and simultaneously. Managed care professionals can ensure appropriate use of novel methods to detect cancer early, including those cancers that do not have a screening test and are often diagnosed in advanced stages, to support efforts that aim to reduce overall indirect and direct costs for patients and the healthcare system. This article will summarize MCED tests and recap data presented at the ISPOR 2022 Annual Meeting to keep managed care professionals up to date with the latest information on emerging technologies involved in the early detection of cancer.
