Program Description

Biomarker-guided therapy has become a cornerstone of metastatic non–small cell lung cancer (mNSCLC) management, enabling personalized treatment decisions that improve patient outcomes while minimizing unnecessary toxicity. Despite these advances, many patients continue to experience delays in or lack access to comprehensive biomarker testing due to a c-sombination of health system inefficiencies, operational barriers, and patient-specific challenges. These gaps can delay treatment initiation, limit access to appropriate targeted therapies, and contribute to disparities in care. This module examines the systemic and patient-level factors that influence timely biomarker testing and access to precision therapies in mNSCLC. Expert faculty will discuss evidence-based strategies to address barriers across the diagnostic and treatment pathway, including improving multidisciplinary coordination, optimizing testing workflows, enhancing patient navigation and support services, and promoting equitable access to biomarker-driven care. The program also highlights the critical role of oncology pharmacists in identifying barriers, facilitating timely testing, supporting patients throughout the treatment journey, and advancing the delivery of personalized cancer care.
