Program Description
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is a rare, acquired autoimmune neuropathy affecting the central nervous system and is often a disabling condition, with one-third of patients progressing to wheelchair dependence. Although disease-related disability is common, approximately 30% of patients achieve cure or remission with treatment. Current treatment strategies include corticosteroids, intravenous or subcutaneous immune globulin therapy, therapeutic plasma exchange, and supportive care, which allow for improvement in symptoms and functional status. Specialty and infusion pharmacists should be aware of the tremendous impact a diagnosis of CIDP may have for patients and their caregivers; they are well positioned to collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to individualize therapy to help patients achieve treatment goals. The expert panelists will raise awareness of CIDP and engage in a detailed discussion of the nuances of available therapies.

• Examine the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and burden of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP)
• Document the current efficacy and safety data, dosing, and administration of therapies for CIDP
• Identify the role of the pharmacist in improving patient outcomes in CIDP by recognizing risk factors and providing patient counseling, monitoring therapy, and addressing challenges
