Activity Overview
Pharmacy technicians must be aware of precautions recommended from leading organizations to ensure safe operational practices for their protection and their patients. Decontaminating surfaces within the pharmacy to prevent disease transmission and implementing strategies to minimize close contact between patients and staff members are integral parts of a pharmacy technician’s role to minimize spread of disease. Equally as important as adapting pharmacy workflow to new safety measures is providing accurate education to patients about use of face coverings, proper hand-washing technique, and symptoms of COVID-19. This activity explores preventive measures that pharmacy technicians can implement within the pharmacy to continue essential duties and delivering necessary care for patients.

Educational Objectives
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

• Review personal and operational practices to minimize frontline technician risk and exposure
• Recognize challenges associated with pharmaceutical care delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic
