Program Description
Since their inception about 20 years ago, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) has evolved immensely, with personal use CGM becoming more prevalent in the past 4 to 5 years. CGM devices afford patients the ability to measure and track their blood glucose levels throughout the day. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has recommended the use of CGM devices in patients with diabetes to improve glucose control and assist in achieving glycemic goals. This introduction to the CGM Continuing the Conversation Curriculum will explore the past, present and future considerations for CGM technologies. Two pharmacist experts in diabetes management will discuss their clinical experience with CGM technology, explain how community pharmacists can help patients seeking information about CGM, and offer considerations for the next frontiers for CGM technology.
