Updates in Therapeutic Strategies for Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Optimal Management of Adverse Effects, featuring Counseling Vignettes

July 27, 2022 | 6:00 & 8:00 PM ET

This activity includes pharmacist-nurse-patient counseling vignettes

Program Description

Combination targeted therapies with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitors have demonstrated promising results as first-line therapy for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Prognostic and patient-specific factors also guide therapy selection. With multiple combinations now approved for RCC, pharmacists and nurses must be familiar with their specific management considerations. Additionally, pharmacists and nurses should be familiar with overlapping toxicities of combination therapies and be able to educate patients on their occurrence and management. This activity will feature counseling scenarios showing communication among a pharmacist, nurse, and a patient with RCC about practical management strategies, administration of combination therapies, and mitigation of adverse effects.
