Program Description

This activity was originally presented at APhA2024 in Orlando, Florida.

Antiretroviral therapy (ART) for people living with HIV can be complex, with effectiveness depending on strict adherence to oral dosing regimens. Multidrug resistance may occur with long-term ART, requiring new drug therapy. This is a persistent public health problem. Pharmacists must be knowledgeable on the disparities and challenges of caring for people living with HIV. New and emerging ARTs can impact practice guideline recommendations. This activity will educate pharmacists on the complexities of managing HIV to ensure proper patient treatment optimization, adherence, and address health disparities and HIV-related complications.
