Program Description
HER2-positive breast cancer accounts for 25% to 30% of all breast cancers. Treatment options including monoclonal antibodies, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, and antibody-drug conjugates have expanded the treatment landscape. While these agents offer more efficacious options for patients, they have also increased complexity of treatment selection and sequencing for oncology pharmacists. Real-world studies suggest that treatment patterns among patients with HER2-positive breast cancer are variable, especially in later-line settings. Oncology pharmacists can serve as key facilitators of evidence-based updates and standardizing treatment paradigms through their clinical knowledge of novel therapies. This program will feature social insights collected from artificial intelligence algorithms from patients, caregivers, and health care professionals specifically regarding treatment options for HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer. Clinical pharmacists and a medical oncologist will lead participants through a range of discussion points including, but not limited to, treatment selection and sequencing, treatment adherence and inequities, management of treatment-related toxicities, and operational and financial barriers to the adoption of novel therapeutics.
