This activity was originally presented live at Asembia's AXS25 Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 28, 2025.
Program Description
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a progressive form of fatty liver disease linked to metabolic syndrome, is becoming an increasingly significant public health challenge. As a leading cause of liver-related morbidity, MASH contributes to the rising demand for liver transplantation and ongoing need for therapies that address both liver inflammation and the metabolic factors contributing to disease progression. Current standard of care involves lifestyle modifications, which often yield limited results. However, advances in treatment options have emerged, with an FDA-approved, orally administered partial activator of a thyroid hormone receptor therapy and several GLP-1 receptor agonists under investigation for MASH. This educational program will provide tools for specialty pharmacists to identify the clinical presentation of MASH, support timely interventions, and improve care delivery to alleviate the growing burden of MASH.
