Program Description
This activity will provide an in-depth review of the connection between antiretroviral therapy (ART) and weight gain and explore current data, identify the risk factors, and describe the proper clinical assessment of weight gain in people living with HIV (PLWH). After completing this activity, pharmacists will be able to identify causes of weight gain, clinically assess weight gain, and understand associated complications and comorbidities. Pharmacists should also be aware of nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic strategies to discuss, monitor, and manage weight gain and actively involve patients in their care. A patient case vignette will be presented to emphasize key considerations related to weight gain in PLWH.
