Program Description

Over-the-counter (OTC) medications are among the first options for individuals who seek to relieve pain. There are numerous pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic methods to treat pain, and pharmacy technicians should be familiar with multiple types of pain relievers available so they can assist the pharmacist with ensuring patient safety. This activity will explore considerations for dosing and administration of OTC analgesics, especially for special patient populations or those with comorbidities to minimize risks for adverse reactions.

  • Outline ways pharmacy technicians can contribute to the safe and appropriate use of oral OTC analgesics
