Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, efforts globally have focused on development of a vaccine, with several candidates receiving Emergency Use Authorizations in the United States in late 2020 and early 2021. Vaccination barriers and hesitancy pose the biggest challenges to achieving herd immunity, or population-level immunity to a virus. Pharmacists may encounter patients who express concerns about the safety and efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines due to their accelerated production. This podcast production will explore how pharmacists can identify specific barriers and use education methods to provide factual and reliable information about COVID-19 disease and vaccines.
