The Expertise of the Specialty Pharmacist in Pediatric Eosinophilic Esophagitis

PTCE aims to present the most updated information available. The FDA indication of dupilumab was expanded in January 2024 to include the treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis in children aged 1 year and older, weighing at least 15 kg. Dosing recommendations vary based on weight. Please refer to the prescribing information for additional information.

Program Description

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) can have devastating consequences for patients, especially pediatric patients. As biologic therapies continue to be developed or their indications expanded, specialty pharmacists will become increasingly important resources for patients and caregivers and will have significant roles in helping patients access medications and evaluating the safety and appropriateness of biologic therapies. In addition, other important areas of care that pharmacists can assist in include handling and storage of medications, ensuring proper administration, making sure patients remain adherent to therapy, and patient and caregiver counseling. This webinar features patient counseling videos that demonstrate educational points pharmacists can share with patients and parents/guardians of pediatric patients with EoE that detail nuances of disease management and biologic therapy.

• Explore approaches to decrease the burden and preserve the quality of life of pediatric patients with EoE
