The Expanding Therapeutic Landscape in IgA Nephropathy: Applying Evidence-Based Strategies and Guideline Updates for Managed Care

May 28, 2025 | 1:00 PM & 8:00 PM EDT

8PM ET: https://globalmeet.webcasts.co...

Program Description

IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is characterized by the deposition of immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibodies in the kidneys. This build up triggers inflammation and damage, which can manifest as progressive kidney damage requiring dialysis or kidney transplantation. Therefore, efforts that support early diagnosis and intervention to preserve kidney function have garnered attention, and research has uncovered therapies with novel mechanisms of action. This webinar will focus on the 2025 KDIGO guideline updates and clinical evidence for approved and emerging therapies for IgAN, as well as the challenges associated with current therapies and the goals of treatment. Managed care professionals will discuss considerations within the evolving treatment paradigm, including cost analyses, strategies to ensure access to novel therapies, and insights on formulary management and treatment pathways.

Educational Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Examine the pathophysiology and disease progression of IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and the clinical challenges and burden for patients.
  • Explain the treatment goals, the disease-specific relevance of proteinuria, and other recommendations from the KDIGO guidelines for the treatment of IgAN.
  • Analyze the clinical trial data, mechanisms of action, and cellular targets for emerging pharmacologic treatments in IgA nephropathy.
  • Identify disease management protocols and care pathways that promote early diagnosis and treatment to delay or prevent disease progression in IgAN.

This activity is jointly provided by the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy-Storrs and Pharmacy Times Continuing Education™, and is supported by educational grants from Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc., Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, and Calliditas Therapeutics.
