Program Description
The treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has shifted to include targeted oral therapies. Pharmacists are well-positioned to assist in treatment selection for patients with NSCLC and a targetable mutation. This activity will specifically focus on ALK-positive NSCLC, where numerous oral therapies are currently recommended in national clinical practice guidelines. Pharmacists can aid both in therapy selection for patients receiving ALK-directed therapy as well as in patient education and management of potential therapy-associated adverse effects. This activity will review the optimal place in therapy for ALK inhibitors while emphasizing the role of the pharmacist in caring for this patient population.
