Program Description

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) poses a significant clinical and economic burden globally. It affects a substantial portion of heart failure patients, leading to frequent hospitalizations, decreased quality of life, and increased health care costs. The economic burden of HFpEF underscores the importance of early recognition, optimal management, and adherence to evidence-based guidelines. The landscape of HFpEF management is evolving with the emergence of new therapeutic options. It is crucial for pharmacists to be familiar with the clinical efficacy and safety profiles of these therapies. Updated guidelines and clinical data on emerging therapies are necessary tools for pharmacists to optimize care for patients with HFpEF. Clinical pearls that will be discussed in this session include the importance of comprehensive medication reviews, medication adherence, drug interactions and adverse effects, and lifestyle modifications and self-care strategies.
