The sessions offered by PTCE at the APhA 2026 Annual Meeting and Exposition will focus on the management of infectious respiratory diseases, diabetes and insulin therapy, and anticoagulation in patients with atrial fibrillation. These targeted sessions are designed to address current challenges and emerging opportunities in disease prevention and chronic illness management. Sessions on updated pneumococcal disease vaccination guidance and COVID-19 post-exposure prophylaxis will equip pharmacists to improve vaccine uptake and strengthen preventive care across practice settings, especially among high-risk populations, and implement proactive outreach strategies that close gaps in community immunity. For the management of metabolic and cardiovascular conditions, sessions on diabetes and stroke reduction will move beyond basic guideline adherence, empowering attendees to assess suboptimal insulin use and to evaluate the safety profile of emerging Factor XI/XIa inhibitors. The innovative diabetes-focused program will feature an interactive, case-based workshop format aimed at identifying people living with type 2 diabetes who demonstrate suboptimal medication use behaviors. To ensure clinical insights translate into effective patient interactions, the anticoagulation session incorporates pharmacist-patient counseling video vignettes, which reinforce high-impact counseling points and communication strategies.
