Program Description

The management of patients with multiple myeloma (MM) can be challenging due to rapid therapy advances and complexity of new regimens. Proteasome inhibitors (PIs) have become an important cornerstone of treatment. This program will present data from recent clinical trials on the use of PIs in combination therapies. It is especially important for pharmacists to be aware of methods to promote patient adherence to therapy, as regimens are complex and associated with adverse effects. The program will review best practices for the prevention and treatment of myeloma-related bone disease and maintenance of bone health in patients with MM. Faculty will also discuss evolving digital technology and mobile health tools that pharmacists can utilize in the management of patients with MM to improve patient care and communication. This activity will feature a patient perspective interview in which pharmacists will gain insight into a patient’s experience with MM throughout the course of disease from diagnosis to treatment, as well as challenges and management of adverse effects of therapy.
