Program Description
Treatment options for early-stage breast cancer have expanded from traditional cytotoxic chemotherapy and endocrine therapies to include several targeted treatments based on breast cancer subtype. Early-stage breast cancer is a very broad subject area with highly nuanced treatment recommendations, which are expanding rapidly with the advancement of targeted therapies. As data supporting the use of CDK4/6 and PARP inhibitors in distinct patient populations with different combinations, dosages, and administration schedules for the treatment of early-stage HR+/HER2- breast cancer emerge, oncology pharmacists will have to stay up to date in this rapidly evolving landscape to provide comprehensive patient care. This program will present strategies for the proactive management of drug therapy, including CKD4/6 and PARP inhibitors, for patients with early-stage breast cancer to mitigate toxicity and optimize therapeutic outcomes. Counseling videos throughout this activity will highlight key concepts for patient education, such as treatment expectations, importance of adherence, and prevention and management of adverse effects.
