This activity includes caregiver counseling video vignettes.
Program Description
For children with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (AD), attaining control of symptoms and avoiding triggers of AD flares are important. Pediatric patients can experience significant impairments to their quality of life, mental development, self-esteem, and physical limitations affecting their ability to engage with peers. The effects of AD can also negatively impact caregivers, so pharmacist involvement in the management of pediatric patients with AD should include counseling for caregivers. Expert panelists will discuss a variety of over-the-counter creams and moisturizers, topical prescription agents, emerging biologics, and other medication classes to equip pharmacists to navigate the options for supportive care and treatment of AD. This activity will also feature counseling videos highlighting novel administration considerations of emerging therapies and the central role of pharmacists in demonstrating proper administration to patients and caregivers as well as counseling on adherence.
