Program Description
The number of oral oncolytics approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has expanded in recent years, with continued growth expected. These therapies have the potential to impact patient care for both solid and hematologic malignancies. This activity will highlight novel oral oncolytics, with a specific focus on drug pharmacology and mechanism of action. Pharmacists are able to assist in treatment decisions for patients receiving oral oncolytics, and can also educate patients and caregivers on appropriate medication management. By determining the appropriate place in therapy for each oncolytic agent reviewed, pharmacists can assist in developing patient-specific treatment plans to optimize care for patients receiving oral oncolytics.
