Pharmacists may occasionally need to answer questions, fill prescriptions, or compound medicines for animals. When patients are companion animals, there are a number of additional factors pharmacists need to consider. This introduction to veterinary pharmacy will familiarize pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with veterinary prescribing practices and review veterinary drug information resources.

- Outline veterinary drug information resources that can be used to support a pharmacist in the safe and accurate filling of pet prescriptions
- Review the applicable legal and regulatory constructs of drugs used in animals including FDA-approved uses and extra-label use
- Discuss factors influencing veterinary prescribing and dispensing
