Add-on activity
This activity includes a Powered by Patients™ interview.
Program Description
Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is a chronic, rare blood disorder in which a mutation in the X-linked PIGA gene leads to the early hemolysis of red blood cells. Consequences of hemolysis include thrombosis and organ damage, which contribute to the morbidity and mortality associated with PNH. In this first webinar in a 3-part series, pharmacists will become familiar with PNH pathophysiology and the role of the complement system in PNH pathogenesis. In addition, variability in patient presentation, diagnostic criteria, and impact on quality of life will be reviewed. A Powered by Patients™ interview will be included in the presentation to highlight the symptoms, diagnosis, and impact of PNH.
