Overview of COVID-19: Highlighting the Burden and Setting the Stage for Treating Patients

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, pharmacists have taken on increasingly important roles in the identification, management, and treatment of patients. To recommend effective and appropriate treatment, pharmacists must be familiar with the etiology and transmissibility of the virus as well as patient populations at increased risk of COVID-19-related complications. Treatment of COVID-19 includes supportive care, with data from numerous clinical trials investigating therapies for COVID-19 leading to approval(s) and authorizations of several agents for the treatment of COVID-19 based on symptom severity or stage of disease. This webinar will provide guidance for the pharmacist to assist in identifying the most effective treatment for patients with COVID-19, especially those who are at high risk for disease complications.
