Program Description
Patients with migraines experience headaches accompanied by neurological symptoms, making migraines a leading cause of disability worldwide. A barrier that patients often encounter is being prescribed inappropriate or ineffective medications. This can result in dissatisfaction, nonadherence, and no relief of symptoms. Pharmacists can address these burdens by becoming familiar with preventive and abortive treatment options and identifying patients who would benefit from novel, targeted therapies. This first webinar of the curriculum will highlight the challenges patients with migraines experience using older treatments. It will also explore how new and emerging treatment options can improve patients’ quality of life, as seen with a patient perspective.
