Program Description
Multiple myeloma (MM) accounts for approximately 15% of hematologic malignancies in the United States. The treatment of MM is rapidly evolving, with therapy decisions determined based on patient-specific factors, including eligibility for stem cell transplantation. Proteasome inhibitors (PIs) are recommended in the management of patients with MM, regardless of transplant eligibility. This activity will review the place in therapy of PIs for MM, as well as the clinical data supporting their use. The role of the pharmacist will also be discussed, emphasizing strategies to ensure patient adherence and management of adverse effects.
