Optimizing Patient Outcomes in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Through the Use of Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors

Program Description
Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is characterized by an increase in immature white blood cells in the blood and bone marrow. Oral tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are recommended in the frontline treatment of CML, with a goal of preventing disease progression. Pharmacists play a key role in educating patients receiving TKI therapy, as medication adherence is essential for optimal clinical outcomes. Additionally, pharmacists can assist in preventing and managing drug-associated adverse effects and ensuring drug interactions are avoided. This activity will focus on the role of the pharmacist in using guideline recommendations for treating CML.
