Optimizing Care for Patients With Endometrial Cancer: A Focus on Pharmacist Interventions and Mitigation of Health Equity Issues

Program Description

The management of endometrial cancer, the most common gynecologic malignancy in the United States, has seen a shift towards the use of immunotherapies and targeted therapies. As pharmacists are involved with caring for patients with endometrial cancer, a knowledge of biomarker testing and its impact on treatment selection for immunotherapy and targeted therapy is imperative. This program will focus on optimal therapy selection, clinical data, and guideline recommendations for endometrial cancer, as well as an overview of strategies to mitigate and manage drug-related adverse effects. Additionally, health disparities associated with this patient population will be assessed, bringing an awareness for pharmacists involved in patient care.

Educational Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Explain the importance of biomarker testing to select optimal treatment strategies for patients with endometrial cancer
• Analyze optimal strategies for managing drug-related adverse effects in patients receiving therapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors, targeted agents, or combination therapy
• Explore programs and strategies in which pharmacists can get involved to help mitigate health equity issues faced by patients with endometrial cancer
