Program Description:
Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is an underrecognized condition marked by persistent hives, itch, and angioedema that can disrupt sleep, quality of life, and daily functioning. A deeper understanding of CSU pathophysiology has contributed to the expanding therapeutic landscape, which now includes an oral Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor as a noninjectable option for patients who cannot use or prefer not to use injectable biologic therapies. This growing array of distinct treatments adds complexity to managed care decision-making, requiring formulary and utilization management strategies that keep pace with evolving evidence. Diagnostic challenges that delay appropriate CSU identification, evolving clinical guidelines, and unclear treatment sequencing can stall patients on inadequate therapy longer than necessary, driving up health care costs and utilization. Participants will be able to apply practical tools to patient selection and coverage decisions while supporting formulary and access strategies that guide treatment sequencing and improve long-term outcomes for patients with CSU.
