Program Description
In recent years, proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors have emerged as promising agents in the treatment of hyperlipidemia. Short-term and long-term studies for the 2 currently FDA-approved PCSK9 inhibitors have shown significant reduction in adverse cardiovascular events. Identifying patients with hyperlipidemia for whom PCSK9 inhibitors may be effective adjuvant therapy is just part of the pharmacist’s role; they must also be able to successfully educate patients on proper dosing and administration intervals to guarantee optimal adherence. Patient case videos are included in this webinar as the patient seeks instructions from the pharmacist regarding important counseling points and administration for a newly prescribed PCSK9 inhibitor.
