Program Description
Technological advancements in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices have provided alternative methods of managing patients with diabetes. Though CGM devices are becoming the new standard of care, there are several barriers to their optimal use, most significantly surrounding patient access and understanding of how to effectively use the device. Pharmacists are uniquely positioned to help patients overcome issues related to access and educate patients to use their devices most effectively. This activity will provide best practices pharmacists can employ to assist patients in resolving common technical issues, especially those surrounding optimizing alerts, assisting in device use training, sharing data with caregivers, and interpreting trends in patients’ glucose profiles.
