Program Description
For patients with diabetes, avoiding glycemic peaks and troughs, or maintaining time in range, is especially important. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices create ambulatory glucose profiles for patients, which allow patients and clinicians to view glucose levels throughout the day. Interpretation of these profiles can help detect whether patients would benefit from modifications in their treatment plans. As some of the most accessible health care professionals, pharmacists can assist patients in interpreting data collected from their CGM device and provide education on lifestyle recommendations or therapeutic interventions to providers that may help improve and limit glucose fluctuations. This second webinar in the curriculum series will expand upon pharmacists’ knowledge of CGM devices with detailed explanations of elements in a patient’s glycemic profile. A series of patient cases throughout this activity will allow pharmacists to practice interpretation of CGM data as well as consider appropriate recommendations for different clinical scenarios.
