Novel and Developing JAK Inhibitors for Atopic Dermatitis: Updates on Clinical Trial Data and Their Place in Therapy

Program Description
Several new and emerging Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors are being investigated for use in atopic dermatitis (AD), an inflammatory skin condition that affects both adults and children. AD can be very hard to treat and heavily impacts a patient’s quality of life. Current standard therapies may not adequately provide long-term relief without adverse effects and/or require concurrent use of multiple medications. The mechanism of action for novel JAK inhibitor agents is unique and targeted for AD pathophysiology within the Janus kinase signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK-STAT) pathway. Pharmacists can play a key role in medication management for patients with AD and can serve as medication experts in the health care system. The expanding landscape of AD therapy brings with it a need to educate pharmacists about AD prevalence, burden, and the role of these new and emerging JAK inhibitor therapies. This webinar will discuss recent clinical trial research and emerging treatment options to assist pharmacists in making recommendations on the most appropriate therapy and counseling patients with AD to improve outcomes.

• Illustrate the pharmacist’s role as medication expert and helping patients with AD manage disease symptoms as new agents become available
