Program Description

The United States Food and Drug Administration approves a wide range of new drugs every year. Pharmacists play a crucial role in the health care team through their expertise on these newly approved medications. With knowledge of key mechanisms of action and potential adverse effects of newly approved drugs, pharmacists can provide patients with the best care possible. This activity will explore select medications to highlight important characteristics, such as mechanism of action, dosing, administration, safety, and efficacy. Pharmacists must stay abreast of the nuances in indications and the potential role of new medications to continue optimizing patient care.

Educational Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Identify the clinical indications and common adverse effects of the new drugs approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2024
• Examine the recommended dosing, administration, and other clinical pearls for the drugs reviewed
