This activity was originally broadcast in conjunction with Asembia Specialty Pharmacy Summit 2024.
Program Description
Biomarker testing has become an essential component of the diagnostic and treatment approach in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), helping pharmacists on the oncology care team make informed recommendations about treatment strategies. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations are the most commonly observed mutations in patients with NSCLC. With multiple EGFR-targeted agents available and under investigation, the complexity of selecting an ideal EGFR inhibitor involves considerations like patient factors, disease specifics, toxicities, and sequencing, making specialty and oncology pharmacists crucial in optimizing patient care. Participants will review clinical and safety data for the EGFR inhibitors used as monotherapy and in combination regimens for the treatment of EGFR mutation-positive NSCLC. This session will also explore best practices for pharmacists to apply precision medicine and incorporate appropriate biomarker testing strategies into treatment paradigms for patients with NSCLC to facilitate timely and appropriate access to therapies and enhance patient care and outcomes.
