Navigating Current and Emerging Treatment Options for Myelofibrosis After Frontline Failure

Program Description

Myelofibrosis (MF) is a myeloproliferative neoplasm characterized by clonal proliferation of myeloid cells causing bone marrow fibrosis, cytopenias, hepatosplenomegaly, and constitutional symptoms. The sole cure is allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation; in patients who are ineligible for stem cell transplantation, the most common frontline treatment is a Janus kinase inhibitor, ruxolitinib. Oncology pharmacists must understand emerging Janus kinase inhibitor therapies that can optimize care for patients with MF, especially in patients that may be difficult to treat or may have failed treatment with ruxolitinib. This activity will review current therapies, discuss recent data on emerging treatment options, and examine how to apply the clinical data to improve patient outcomes. This activity will feature patient cases and an expert panel discussion to highlight best practices in navigating treatment options in patients who may need second-line therapies.

• Optimize patient care through the provision of appropriate supportive care and proactive management of treatment-related toxicities
