A PER satellite symposium in conjunction with the 2023 Annual Oncology Meeting.

Program Description

The past few years have realized approvals of several new targeted drugs for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) based on our increased understanding of the diverse genetic etiologies underlying this disease. Immune checkpoint inhibition plays a key role throughout the course of TNBC, with ongoing trials evaluating new combination regimens. The use of PARP inhibitors has greatly expanded in the treatment of patients with BRCA1/2-mutated TNBC. In addition, the recent development of novel TROP2-directed antibody-drug conjugate has transformed the treatment of metastatic TNBC. With the growing armamentarium of treatment options, it is critical to examine recent clinical developments of these oncogenic targeted therapies and appreciate the implications for the treatment of early-stage and metastatic TNBC.

In conjunction with the 2023 ASCO Annual Meeting, this in-person and virtual satellite symposium will provide multiple perspectives on hot topics with spirited case-based panel discussions. This activity will help health care professionals maintain their clinical practice by providing expert guidance on how to incorporate the latest clinical efficacy and safety data on immunotherapies, PARP- and TROP2-targeted therapies for the treatment of TNBC.

Target audience: This educational activity is directed toward physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of TNBC.

Educational Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Determine the biologic subtypes of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and the use of validated biomarkers to develop individualized treatment plans incorporating targeted therapeutics for appropriate patients
  • Implement evidence-based treatment planning for patients with TNBC, incorporating efficacy and safety data from clinical trials evaluating immunotherapies, PARP inhibitors, antibody drug conjugates, and cytotoxic agents
  • Design strategies to monitor for and manage adverse events to mitigate their impact on outcomes among patients receiving treatment for TNBC
  • Discuss ongoing clinical trials of investigational agents for TNBC and the placement of emerging data in the context of current treatment paradigms
