Program Description
Non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for a large percentage of lung cancers diagnosed in the United States. The introduction of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has provided additional treatment options beyond the first-line setting, and these agents have become the new standard of care. Oncology pharmacists must be equipped to interpret and apply the results of clinical trials of ICIs to ensure their safe and effective use in the treatment of patients with NSCLC. ICIs have demonstrated increased survival rates for patients with NSCLC, but these agents are also associated with immune-related adverse effects. This program will present clinical trial outcomes that have contributed to evidence-based recommendations for the use of ICIs in NSCLC. The role of the oncology pharmacist in managing treatment-related adverse effects with ICIs and developing personalized treatment and management plans for patients with NSCLC will be examined.

  • Apply the findings from clinical trials on ICI use as frontline therapy in metastatic NSCLC to personalized treatment plans for individual patients
