Managed Care Pharmacy: A Plan for the Future and How Pharmacists are Leading the Way

Program Description

The role of a pharmacist extends well beyond the community pharmacy counter, into health systems, health plans, pharmacy benefit management (PBM), and/or government. In these settings, pharmacists can assist in the development and implementation of medication use strategies to improve accessibility of medications while containing associated costs. This activity will explore various career paths for pharmacists interested in managed care, such as in formulary design, clinical program development, and utilization management. Panelists will also share the important role of managed care pharmacists in helping patients navigate the health care system as well as in improving patient outcomes.
