Managed Care Insights on Optimizing the Use of BCMA-Targeted Treatments in Multiple Myeloma

Program Description

A large proportion of patients with multiple myeloma (MM) experience disease relapse or treatment failure. Patients with relapsed disease have poor prognosis, increased health care resource utilization, and limited treatment options in late relapse, necessitating research into novel therapies for this patient population. B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) has been identified as crucial for the survival of bone marrow plasma cells and has become a target of investigation for the treatment of MM. Treatment selection of a BCMA-targeted agent is complex as there are various mechanisms and modalities currently available, and managed care professionals and oncology pharmacists must consider patient and disease-specific related factors prior to treatment selection. Led by an expert panel, this discussion will focus on clinical data and considerations for incorporating recently approved and investigational BCMA-targeted therapies into treatment plans for patients with relapsed or refractory MM. Panelists will also discuss organizational strategies and oncology clinical pathways managed care professionals can develop to ensure these emerging agents are accessible to patients.

• Interpret the clinical data supporting the use of recently approved and emerging BCMA-targeted agents in the treatment of multiple myeloma.
• Explore strategies for managed care pharmacists to incorporate pathways in accordance with guideline recommendations, improve health care resource utilization, and ensure appropriate use of emerging BCMA-targeted therapies.
