Program Description

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the field of oncology by offering innovative solutions to complex challenges. The integration of AI in cancer care is predicted to reduce screening costs, improve diagnostic accuracy and prognostic capabilities, predict response and toxicity to systemic therapy, and facilitate more rapid and tailored drug development. However, its proper use requires that oncology pharmacists to stay informed about these AI-based tools in cancer care. This keynote address for the 2024 Directions in Oncology Pharmacy Conference series will outline the evolution of AI in cancer care and explore specific applications of AI-based tools in navigating ethical considerations around the use of patient data and informing approaches in cancer treatment, such as through precision medicine to enhance patient care and contribute to advancing cancer treatment.
