Program Description
The treatment of metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC) is evolving as clinical trials continue to expand and new therapeutic options with proven efficacy, safety, and improved quality of life enter the treatment landscape. Managed care pharmacists must be up to date on these trial outcomes when determining which medications to include on formularies. To manage these outcomes and costs, managed care and oncology pharmacists can work together to utilize oncology-specific management tools. Pharmacists within health systems are well equipped to be a part of determining clinical pathways, identifying patients for program inclusion, assessing adverse reactions and efficacy related to therapy, and determining cost of pharmacotherapy. This module will present examples of treatment models, services to coordinate care across practice settings, and clinical pathways pharmacists can implement within their practices to ensure delivery of quality, cost-effective care for patients with mTNBC.

- Determine the value of novel drug therapies in the treatment of metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC) based on clinical safety and efficacy data and patient-reported quality of life outcomes
- Analyze challenges to formulary inclusion of novel drug therapies for the treatment of mTNBC as well as payer strategies to address these challenges
- Identify methods within pharmacy practice to optimize resource utilization and access to novel drug therapies for the treatment of mTNBC
