This activity was originally broadcast live at the 2022 Asembia Specialty Pharmacy Summit.
This activity features a Patient Perspective.
Program Description
Treatment options for patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) currently consist of an armamentarium of agents including oral targeted therapy with BTK and BCL-2 inhibitors. Overall selection of therapy can be complex as it depends on clinical staging and presence of genetic mutations, among other factors. Additionally, agents for the treatment of CLL have been associated with clinically significant adverse effects and treatment discontinuation among patients. To optimize care for patients, specialty and oncology pharmacists have important roles in providing proactive assessment and counseling for adherence and management of adverse effects associated with these oral therapies. This program will delve into elements central to treatment selection for patients with CLL as well as strategies pharmacists can utilize in the management of adverse effects associated with BTK and BCL-2 inhibitors. A Patient Perspective interview will be incorporated throughout this activity and will highlight the experience of a patient with CLL from diagnosis through treatment.
