Program Description
The prevalence of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) increases with age, with an estimated 11 million Americans living with some form of AMD. This number is expected to double by 2050, causing increased visual disability as well as high financial and treatment burdens for patients and the healthcare system. Managed care professionals need to be familiar with the substantial impact of neovascular AMD treatment to a patient’s quality of life. This activity will present real-world data surrounding experience and outcomes with anti-VEGF agents in the treatment of neovascular AMD as well as clinical data updates for potential agents currently under investigation. Additionally, strategies for managed care professionals to reduce healthcare resource burden and improve patient outcomes by overcoming financial barriers and patient nonadherence to anti-VEGF agents will be discussed.

• Illustrate the barriers in managing neovascular AMD and the measures managed care professionals can employ to optimize patient outcomes and healthcare delivery.
