Program Description

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare neuromuscular disorder that can affect any voluntary muscle group. Though MG has a clinical course that can vary, ultimately, it is a progressive disease. Many of the traditional treatments for generalized MG have limitations related to a delayed onset of action, required monitoring, or length of treatment to mitigate adverse effects, which contribute to a significant disease burden for patients. However, as investigational therapies exploring novel mechanisms of action to modify the disease process enter the treatment landscape of MG, specialty pharmacists must be familiar with the clinical data to optimize the use of these new medications. This program will feature a Powered by Patients™ interview that captures the perspective of an individual living with MG who will share their experience with diagnosis, treatment, and decision-making with members of their care team. Equipped with knowledge of current treatment options to guide an evidence-based approach to care with a focus on emerging and recently approved therapies, specialty pharmacists will be better prepared to facilitate access to appropriate treatments to enhance the health-related quality of life of patients living with MG.
