This activity was originally presented live at the Oncology Pharmacists Connect conference in Austin, TX on June 20, 2024.

Program Description

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is typically more aggressive and more difficult to treat than non—small cell lung cancer due to rapid tumor growth and quick development of resistance. This session focuses on therapeutic updates in SCLC, emphasizing advancements in treatment strategies and the management of toxicities. Expert faculty will review the epidemiology of SCLC, risk factors, and challenges with limited frontline treatments. The emergence of second-line therapies, combination therapies, and potential novel treatment regimens will be discussed. Oncology pharmacists are central figures in the health care team as they participate in therapy discussions and assist in managing treatment-related toxicities. Included patient case scenarios present considerations for applying these strategies, evaluating new therapeutic approaches, and mitigating adverse effects of therapy.
