Program Description

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a common form of leukemia affecting older adults. Treatment modalities focus on prolonging survival and improving patient quality of life. Oral therapies, including Bruton's tyrosine kinase and B-cell lymphoma 2 inhibitors, have allowed for improvements in patient outcomes; however, adherence to therapy is crucial. Pharmacists are heavily involved in therapy selection, adverse effect management, and patient education for those with CLL. This activity will highlight the clinical safety and efficacy data for managing CLL and will also focus on the pharmacist’s role. Additionally, clinical pharmacists will engage in a panel discussion where patient cases will be presented to enforce topics introduced, including treatment selection and adverse effect management.

  • Explore safety and efficacy data for doublet and triplet therapeutic approaches for the treatment of CLL
  • Construct a plan to optimize care coordination, adherence monitoring, and adverse effect management for patients with CLL receiving combination therapy with a BTKi and/or venetoclax
