Activity Overview

This Expert Illustrations and Commentaries™ is a video-based program in which 2 experts discuss the etiology and management of erosive esophagitis (EE). In this activity, the expert faculty focus on the pathophysiology of EE and current and emerging therapeutic strategies for the management of EE. Their discussion is enriched with video animation to illustrate the mechanism of disease and mechanisms of action of current and emerging classes of therapy for EE. These animated segments help make somewhat complicated subject matter more easily understood. This unique format is designed to help clinicians identify best practices in the diagnosis and management of EE and to improve outcomes for their patients with this disease.

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed toward gastroenterologists, primary care clinicians, NPs, and PAs, and other health care professionals involved in the management of patients with EE.

• Describe the complications associated with inadequately treated erosive esophagitis
• Interpret available grading schemes used in the assessment of erosive esophagitis symptoms
• Apply guideline-based treatment plans to manage patients with erosive esophagitis
• Illustrate the mechanism of action for potassium-competitive acid blockers (PCABs) as studied for the treatment of erosive esophagitis
