Program Description
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most common neurological conditions in the world, and it has enormous impact on patients’ quality of life. As their disability progresses, patients with MS incur substantial economic burden—often exceeding $4 million in lifetime costs. The development of disease-modifying treatments may have the potential to delay the progressive disability associated with this incurable disease. This activity will review the novel mechanisms of action of emerging agents in the MS treatment landscape, as well as new long-term data that has implications in treatment decisions for patients with MS. Equipped with this knowledge, managed care professionals and specialty pharmacists can balance therapeutic efficacy and cost-effective treatment options to achieve optimal clinical response in patients with MS.
