Program Description

Numerous disparities exist in healthcare in the United States, including social factors, ethnicity, age, environmental exposure, and geography.  These factors may impact access to healthcare, with the potential to affect patient outcomes.  Specifically, inequities exist in cancer incidence, outcomes, and mortality in patients belonging to minority groups.  An understanding of these disparities is essential for the entire healthcare team, including pharmacists. This activity will examine the potential clinical impact of biases seen in cancer care and will also bring awareness to barriers seen in practice.  This program will showcase a panel discussion led by experts who will share solutions to the challenges seen in patient care.
